FCHS FFA Members Attend National Convention

Fannin County High School FFA members traveled to Louisville, Kentucky on October 29-November 1 to attend the National FFA Convention. The first stop of the trip was in Nashville, TN to take in the sights and sounds of the city, then on to Thomas Dairy Farm in Elizabethtown, KY where they toured the dairy farm and learned about agri-tourisim,the day was complete with a Justin Moore concert. On Thursday they viewed the opening session and visited the convention expo, the afternoon took them to Church Hill Downs where they toured the facility, visited the Kentucky Derby Museum, and had a barn and trackside tour; from there they boarded the Spirit of Jefferson Riverboat for a buffet meal and sightseeing tour, then finished the night with a corn maze. Friday brought another visit to the Expo and FFA shopping mall, a tour of downtown Louisville, and World’s Toughest Bulls and Broncs Rodeo. Saturday Caleb Owenby, Caleb Patterson, and Hillary Nicholson were awarded the highest degree in the FFA, The American FFA Degree.

FCHS FFA members attending were Zachary Couch, Taylor VanZandt, Trey Campbell, Lakota Towe, Katie Patterson, Montana Pearson, Cody O’Neal, Daniel Davis, and Seth Davis.

Convention tab. There are more than 610,000 FFA members nationwide. The Georgia Association has over 37,500 members, making it the 3rd largest Association in the nation.
