The Fannin County Rebels took to the road on Friday and headed to Hall County to take on the Spartans of West Hall. The 6-1 Spartans showed off an explosive high powered offense and a stingy defense, putting up a final score of 49-0 in favor of the Spartans.The Rebels started the game receiving the ball. Quarterback Brad Davis got to work starting the first drive going two for two and getting a first down. The Spartan defense however took control of the drive, making the Rebels punt.

Despite a long field due to the long punt, the Spartans scored on the next drive. A Spartan took off on a 56 yard touchdown run with 7 minutes to go in the first making the score 7-0.

On the ensuing drive Fannin turned turn to Jack Roper to punt the ball from the near goal line, after a three and out. Roper’s huge punt set West Hall up on the opposite 35. West Hall put together a three minute touchdown drive scoring on a six yard score.

With two minutes left in the first the Rebels looked to get a drive going trailing by 14.

After a fake punt by the Rebels, Davis and the gang couldn’t get the momentum needed to get a good drive going and punted the ball to end the first quarter.

West Hall took advantage of a tired defense finding an open receiver to set up a 26 yard touchdown coming with 11 minutes left in the first half making the score 21-0.

Tyler Beaver and company finally got some yardage under their belt with a small drive. Beaver made a big play out of a screen pass to the left gaining nearly twenty yards.

The coaches showed faith in the Fannin offense by sending them out to go for it on a fourth and eight. The Rebels would only pick up six yards on the play, turning the ball over on downs with 9 minutes to play in the second quarter.

The Spartans scored once more in the first half. This score would get the Fannin Faithful’s attention. From the stands it look like the ball was fumbled into the end zone and recovered by Fannin, but the refs ruled it as a touchdown for the Spartans.

With a 28-0 halftime score the Rebels went into the locker room looking for an answer to regroup and start over for the second half.

That answer would not come soon enough as West Hall walked back out on the field and returned the opening kickoff back to make the score 35-0. The high powered Spartan attack would go on to give the final of 49-0 on the night.

A big accomplishment on the night goes to Beaver with 19 carries for 128 yards Beaver now has 1057 on the season with only seven games under his belt. Davis also hit a milestone of passing yards having over 2,000 on the season.

Fannin looks to bounce back for senior night this up coming week in a home match up verses the East Hall Vikings.
