The Rebels were in action last Friday as Fannin made the journey to Dawson to take on the Tigers. Fannin crushed the homecoming dreams for the Tigers, stunning Dawson in the final seconds to win 35-28.The Rebels got off the bus hot, holding the Tigers on the first drive and walking the ball down the field to take a quick 7-0 lead over Dawson.

Both defenses would keep each other’s offense off the board, until Dawson tied the game with seven seconds to go in the first quarter.

The defensive battle continued during the second quarter as the Tigers held, Fannin to turnover on downs after a failed fourth and one. With seven minutes left in the second Dawson scored on a 56 yard TD pass.

Following the Dawson TD that made the score 14-7, the Tigers tried to sneak in an onside kick that left Tyler Beaver and the Rebels a short field.

A Brad Davis pass to Cody Jacobs left the ball on the one yard line following a Beaver run to put the Rebels deep into Tiger Territory.

Jacobs finished the drill, driving home the TD on a one yard run to tie the game at 14 all with five minutes left in the half.

The Tigers struck the goal line one more time, with the score coming on a pass to make the half time score 21-14 Dawson.

The Rebels, following the running of Beaver and Jarod Petty, started the third quarter quickly moving the ball down the field. Petty broke the plane on a one yard TD run with nine minutes remaining in the third.

The defense of both teams picked back up allowing the remaining minutes in the third to be scoreless. As the fourth got underway Dawson found the goal line with ten minutes remaining in the game. The score put the Tigers on top 28-21.

Fannin and Dawson both would have a chance for a drive but both defenses held strong as the Rebels received a Dawson punt with four minutes left in the game.

Jacobs, Davis, Beaver, and O’Neal pushed the ball down to the five yard line with 60 seconds left on the clock.

Petty tied the game with 49 ticks left on the clock with a score of 28 all.

One the ensuing drive in the short time the Tigers had, Dawson moved the ball to the Rebels 40 yard line with 19 seconds on the clock.

Jack Roper became the hero of the game when he went up on the next play to grab a huge interception. Roper took the ball 60 some yards to the house.
Fannin took the lead with 3.2 seconds on the clock.

Kai Russel and the Rebels put the game away holding Dawson on the kickoff for a Rebel 35-28 win.

Fannin moves to 4-3 on the year and 2-1 in region play. Fannin travels to West Hall this Friday to take on a 6-1 region opponent
