Douglas Mackie Hamby, age 72 of Grayson, GA formally of Murphy passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at his home. He was born June 27, 1942 in Farner, TN to the late Glenn Hamby and Florence (Ellie) Allen Hamby. A member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Lawrenceville he had retired from Thyssen Elevator, he enjoyed travel and spending time in Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Ellen Jackson Hamby and infant grandson, Aidan Xaver.
Survivors include: wife, Brenda Bailey Hamby, son, Michael Hamby and wife Kim of Blairsville, daughter, Susan Hamby Murphy Seattle, WA, son, Timothy Hamby of Grayson, GA, step son, Alan Hamby of Newnan, Ga., brothers, Dennis and Jeff Hamby both of Murphy, granddaughter, Brooke Hamby of Blairsville.
Services: Friday, October 10, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy with the Rev. Calvin Murphy officiating.
