Fannin Mountain Education Charter High School had some exciting visitors Tuesday, September 30. To help promote their FTE week and to kick-off their focus on careers in the transportation cluster this quarter, Anthony Rymer and Dakota Long brought their race cars to school. Both compete on dirt tracks in the crate class. Students heard about the importance of getting an education and the education requirements before entering the automotive field, and the many job opportunities available. Anthony answered questions about his career as a mechanic at Mountain Valley Motors Dodge dealership.

Students were able to get a firsthand look at Anthony and Coty’s racecars and participate in a drawing that included an emergency car kit, tire gauge, and two oil changes donated by Mountain Valley Motors. As a follow-up to the day’s presentation, a field trip to Lanier Tech’s motor sports program and Road Atlanta is planned for later this month. Students were treated to Wendy’s Frosties as the engines roared and exhaust filled the air!
