Daily Prayer: 09/18/2014

“Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealously and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.” James 3:13-16.

O God of Grace and Glory, you are so patient with our human condition. You want us to be humble and we are filled with arrogance and self promotion. You want us to be understanding and we are often jealous and resentful. You want us to be wise and we are sometimes false to the truth. You want us to live in harmony with others and we often cause disorder.

Forgive us for our sins of self-importance and help us to be conformed to the image of Christ who loved us and gave himself for us.
