Rev. Mack A. Morgan, age 95 of Andrews, passed away September 4, 2014 at Copper Basin Medical Center.Rev. Morgan was born May 11, 1919 in Ronceverte, WV to the late Liburn Payton Morgan and the late Minnie Rosetta Davis Morgan. He was a US Army veteran serving in the South Pacific during WWII. A Baptist Pastor and Evangelist for over 60 years, serving churches in VA, WV and NC locally he Pastured Hightower Baptist Church in Bryson City, Bethel Hill Baptist Church in Nantahala and reopen renovated and pastured Old Country Baptist Church in Topton. He enjoyed hunting and spending time in the outdoors. He was preceded in death by daughter, Freida Pruett.
Survivors include: wife, Mary Morgan, the only child of Mary and Mack Morgan, Jennifer Moore and grandson, Dacoda Moore, son, Fred Morgan, son, Ernest Morgan, son, Paul Morgan, daughter, Drucilla Nichols, daughter, Velma Nicholson, daughter, Patrica Ruffner, daughter, Rebecca Moyer, son, Curtis Morgan, step son, Frank Nichols, step son, William Nichols, step son, Donald Nichols, step son, Kenneth Nichols, several grand and great grandchildren, special friends, Stephanie Hall and Jennifer Payne Eller.
Funeral services: Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy Chapel with the Dr. Chester Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Valleytown Cemetery with full military rites by local veteran organizations. Pallbearers: Kenneth Nichols, Dacoda Moore, Barry Moore, Eugene Moore, Brian Nichols and Kevin Ray.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy of Murphy, Saturday, September 06, 2014 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
