During a recent Board of Commissioners Meeting, Chairman Bill Simonds announced to the audience about a proclamation designating Fannin as a Purple Heart County.
Larry Flemming from a local chapter was on hand to present the commissioners will the proclamation.
With Fannin County being a Purple Heart County, it will help recognize members of the armed forces of the United States who were wounded or killed during combat while serving our country.
The Purple Heart Medal is awarded to living members of the armed forces of the United States who are wounded in war at the hands of the enemy.
