Mr. John Edwin Collins: Obituary

The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces Memorial Services for Mr. John Edwin Collins, Sr. age 79 of Mineral Bluff, passed away August 11, 2014 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga. John was born January 2, 1935 in Sweetsier, IN. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Alice, his four children, three grandchildren, and one great grandson.

John retired from the Air Force in 1976 as a Senior Master Sergeant after 22 years of service. He loved his family, travel, cars, and airplanes. He was a dedicated deacon at Morganton Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Walker Collins and uncle William Walker.

Survivors include: Wife, Alice Woodworth Collins of Mineral Bluff; Children: John Collins, Jr of Fossil Butte, Wy, Judith Hill of Mineral Bluff Joni Davis of Mineral Bluff, Jodi Conley and Phil Chandler of Blairsville; Grandchildren, Jennifer Davis of New Orleans, La, Casey Davis and Brandon Brown of Mineral Bluff, Charlie And Arielle Davis of Mineral Bluff; Great Grandson, Ricky Davis; Brothers and Sisters, Jackie Calhoun of Indiana, Jerry and Peggy Collins of Tennessee, Joan Ancil of Indiana, Janet Van Dine of Indiana, Glenna Carter of Indiana, Sarah Carter of Indiana, Rosalie and Bill Eakins of Indiana and Ruth and Jim Thompson of Indiana

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Morganton Baptist Church. Military Honors will be presented by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
