Mary F. Griffith: Obituary

Mary F. Griffith of Hiawassee GA died Saturday August 2nd 2014, following a brief illness. Mary was born August 24th 1928, in Warren, Ohio the daughter of the late Charles Wesley Layman and Alberta Van Gilder Layman.

Mary was a dedicated wife and mother and a volunteer for various organizations throughout her life including the local Chamber of Commerce and hospital.

Mary and her husband Walter, moved to Hiawassee following a dedicated search to find their ideal retirement home and they both fell in love with the area and its residents and they created wonderful memories with their family, friends and neighbors. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Walter and sisters Kathleen and Virginia.

Mary will be sadly missed by all her friends but especially by her family, son and daughter-in-law, W. David Griffith and Sue Noblin in Atlanta, daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Robert Rabe of Pickerington, Ohio, and daughter Rachel Barter in London, England, sister-in-law Anna Mae Gunther, and her four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and ten nieces.

Her family would like to extend their personal thanks for all the support we received during this period from her friends and care givers which helped more than words can ever express.

No services are planned at this time, however, those who wish can make a donation to Regency Hospice, 350 S. Main St., Hiawassee, GA 30546, in her memory.
