Real Estate Consultant to the Board of Assessors (BOA), John Foster, was terminated last Friday (July19) during a board meeting, after working for the board for a very short time following its reorganization.
Foster started the position when the new board was established. He was initially given the title of “Office Supervisor” with an hourly wage of roughly $18.00.
During his first few meeting as Office Supervisor Foster and Chief Appraiser Dawn Cochran ran the meetings.
Foster’s title was later changed to “Real Estate Consultant.”
This action caused many people to wonder what the job entailed since Nathan Henson, Board Member, works in real estate.
This action caused speculation about what the job entailed. Debate on the matter lead Post Commissioner Larry, Joe Sosebee, (in an apparent intention to have Foster terminated) to make a motion (within a county BOC meeting) to trim the budget of the BOA by the exact amount of Foster’s pay.
That motion never received a second.
However, just two short weeks later, the BOA terminated Foster following a 32 minute executive session.
Chief Appraiser Cochran stated during a recent meeting about the changes in the office, “Our two secretaries are Appraiser Ones, I just need to relieve them off of that desk and let them work”
The BOA is holding interview for these secretary jobs during the next couple of days to get the staff back in line the way it should be.
In other news related to the BOA: The board is currently conducting interviews for secretarial positions during the next couple of days in order to provide sufficient office staff to serve the community.
