The Fannin County High School coaching legend, Johnny Farmer, was inducted into the State of Georgia High School Coaches Hall of Fame. Farmer spent 31 years in the state of Georgia as a coach, 30 of them as a head coach at FCHS.He headed the Lady Rebels basketball team for 26 years, 19 years as the Lady Rebels softball coach and four years as the Rebels boys’ basketball head man. He finished his career with 816 games coached with 577 versus 239 losses for a .707 winning percentage.
He coached two state championship teams, two state runner ups and five region champions. Farmer led the Lady Rebels basketball teams to final four six times, the elite eight ten times and won 20 or more games 11 straight years. He also coached the girls North squad in the GACA North-South All-Star Game.
He has been named AJC and Atlanta Tip-Off Club “Coach of the Year” twice. He was named Northwest Georgia Tip-Off Club “Coach of the Year” five times and received the AJC “Top Ten Coaches” Award.
