Mr. Steven Bedford Jeffress : Obituary

Mr. Steven Bedford Jeffress, age 80 of Blue Ridge, passed away May 26, 2014 at his home. Mr. Jeffress was born December 26, 1933 in Goldsboro, NC to the late Ernest Judson Jeffress and the late Elizabeth Virginia Kersey. He is a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Blue Ridge and a former member of the St. William Catholic Church in Murphy. He was preceded in death by brother, Earnest Judson Jeffress and sister, Sara Elizabeth Andrews. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and bird watching in his spare time. Steven was a family man and an eagle scout. He was a co-worker for the Missioners of the Charity of the Blessed Mother Teresa.

Survivors include: wife, Carole Jeffress, daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Tommy Newberry, son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Francine Jeffress, daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Ron Carlson, sister, Evelyn Jeffress Stith, and granddaughters, Danielle Jeffress, and Heather Carlson.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 am at the St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father George Closter officiating. Interment will follow in the McCaysville Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers include Ron Carlson, Tommy Newberry, Thomas Browne and Steve Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are Glen O’Neill, Jim Moore, Bob Stignani, Ralph Stanley, and Walter Graham. Military honors will be presented by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Flowers will be accepted or you may make a donation in Steven’s memory to Lungevity at 218 S. Wabash Avenue, Suite 540, Chicago, IL 60604 or your favorite charity.
