Virginia (Peggy) Lee Walker: Obituary

Virginia (Peggy) Lee Walker, age 81, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully at Vitas Hospice Care on Monday, May 5, 2014, after a 3 month illness.Although Ms. Walker resided in Jonesboro, GA for the past few years she was a native of Cobb County for over 30 years. She was born in Akron, Ohio and raised in Epworth, GA, graduating from Epworth High School.
Ms. Walker held various positions in her career. She was employed by Rich’s Department Store in Atlanta in their cosmetic and perfume department a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of the Retail Clerk’s Union and worked with Colonial Stores. In her later years she became a caregiver for the elderly. She lovingly and tenderly cared for each client who loved her in return.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert T. Walker and Sarah Patterson Walker; brother, Herbert T. Walker, Jr.; and sister, Pauline Walker Galloway.

She is survived by her son and his fiancé, William Turner and Teresa Waller, sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Cindy Turner, and Jimmy and Amber Gaskin; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Thomas Jones; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews and other family members.
