Mr. Larry Ernest Long, age 58, of Ellijay, GA passed away April 1, 2014 at his home. Born in Copperhill, TN he was the son of the late Ernest Clinton and Christine Octalee Franks Long. He was a Diesel Mechanic for Komatsu Tractor and Equipment. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Parris Long of Ellijay, GA; two sons, Tim Long of Ramhurst, GA and Phillip Long of Ellijay, GA; grandchild, Hayleigh Alexis Cook; brother, Terry Long of Epworth, GA; sister, Teresa Franks of Epworth, GA; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Ramsey, Rev. Alan Picklesimer and Rev. Michael Collis officiating. Music will be provided by Shotty Kendall and Ricky and Randy Beach. Serving as pallbearers will be Chuck Collis, Neil Collis, Paul Collis, Tim Long, Brandon Long and Josh Lacy. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Edward Kendall, Ronnie Parris, James Parris, Reid Kendall, Johnny Gray, Terry Ramsey and Phillip Collis. Interment will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to help defray final expenses.
