John William Reel : Obituary

Mr. John William Reel, better known as “Jack”, age 95, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away March 25, 2014.Born in Sullivan County, IN, he was the son of the late William and Sylvia Ridgeway Reel. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Reel was a State Inspector for the Fannin County Health Department. He was a member of the Hemptown Methodist Church. Mr. Reel was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Inez Nivens Reel and a son, Ronald Reel.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John Barry and Sandra Reel of Morganton, GA and Richard and Cathy Reel of Cookeville, TN; brother, Kenny Reel of OH; sister, Wilma Nevins of Livingston, TN; grandchildren, April Smith, Brooke Standefer, John William Reel and Jeremy King; great grandchildren, Jenna Smith, Harrison Smith, Aiden Standefer and Tate Standefer; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday March 28, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jess Posey officiating. Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jimmy Smith, Mark Standefer, John William Reel, Aaron Seabolt, Jeremy King and Harrison Smith. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tate and Aiden Standefer.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to help defray final expenses. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, GA is in charge of the arrangements.
