Mr. James Douglas Ray, age 68, of Copperhill, TN passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in Copper Basin Medical Center.He was born on May 15, 1945 in Polk County,TN to the late James William Ray and Mytle Elizabeth Roper Ray. He was an iron worker at Tennessee Copper Company, was a member of Coletown Baptist Church, and was a member of Copperhill Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Hyde Ray of Copperhill, TN; son, Daniel Ray of Ellijay, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Ray Davis and John Davis of Ellijay; sister-in-law, Harriet (Lee) Barnes of Morganton; sisters, Jo Ann (Danny) Oliver of Morganton and Dot Bowling of Bradenton, FL; and grandchildren, Daniel Ray and Lance Corporal Maci Davis.
A celebration of life and 49th wedding anniversary celebration was held Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at the Ray Family Home located at 21 Tanasi Drive, Copperhill, TN 37317. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements.
