We had a really busy week last week with the weather. We opened our EOC (Emergency Operations Center) on Tuesday morning at 3:00AM and kept it open around the clock until Thursday at 5:00 PM to assure that we were ready for any problems that might have come up as a result of the weather. We were actually very fortunate in Fannin County that we did not get the heavy icing that counties south of us received. We did get a small amount of icing on Wednesday night and Thursday morning causing several trees to come down in different parts of the county creating power outages in several areas. At one point there were about 6000 residents out of power but both Tri-State EMC and Blue Ridge Mountain EMC were quick to respond and had power back on quickly. No shelters had to be opened in Fannin County, but we had received a shelter supply trailer from the Red Cross to have on standby just in case it was needed.
