January 27, 2014 was an evening of celebration for the Academic Team of Fannin County High School. The academic team consists of all grade level students who compete against other schools throughout this region of Georgia. Students are quizzed over all areas of mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies, in addition to current events in the world news. These students practiced both afternoons and mornings throughout the school year, putting in many hours to prepare for the competitions. These dedicated young people will be the leaders of tomorrow! Our end of year banquet was held at Southern Charm, in downtown Blue Ridge. If you have not experienced the cuisine at this southern style restaurant, you should, for you will be in for a treat! Thank you to the Academic Booster Club for buying the meals for the team!
The evening began with time for students, their family and attending faculty and administrators to socialize and enjoy the ambience and company.
After dining, awards were presented. The Junior Varsity team all received trophies and certificates of participation to acknowledge their placing second in the region at the annual final competition, held in Flowery Branch. The Varsity team received certificates for lettering or participation, lamp pins of knowledge and bars of service, all depending on their years and experience.
Through the generosity of several local businesses, all students received two door prizes. A copy of the program for the evening is attached, listing both the members of the teams and the businesses who contributed gifts for door prizes.
We are looking forward to next year with high expectations of both teams bringing home trophies!
