The Fannin County Board of Education as well as the Fannin Sheriff’s Office had a long night dealing with a bomb threat that occurred.Mr. Robert Ensley, Principal of West Fannin Elementary School, received an email last night around 10:00.

According to Mark Henson, School Superintendent, he said,

“The email was specific bomb threat on the school.”

Upon Henson being notified he activated procedures and protocols on how to handle the situation.

In a press conference this morning, Henson would say,

“We were able to successfully trace the I.P. address to a physical address here in the county. Myself, the sheriff and the GBI went to that address and the subject was arrested.”

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the threat came from a 5th grade student from the school.

The GBI and the Habersham K-9 Unit cleared the school around 4:30 this morning. This allowed for school to be in session today.

“I want to commend our Sheriffs Department. They were all over this.”

said Henson.
