With the holiday season at hand, tis the season of giving and the students at Blue Ridge Elementary School displayed their school spirit and desire to help others during a food drive held at the school. The PTO of the school opted to sponsor a party to the classroom that gathered the largest amount of food as an incentive. The reward would allow the winning class to choose the party of their choice.

The winner of the contest was Mrs. McBride’s third grade class. With 185 items gathered, they were undecided on whether or not they would have a pizza or an ice cream party. Other requests were a bowling party and a frozen yogurt party. Aside from the excitement of a special treat, students told FYN that they were happy to be able to help those who need it, especially at this time of year.

The school, as a whole, raised a total of 1,525 nonperishable food items. Parent liaison, Nicole Schnuknecht, told FYN that the food would be given to Feed Fannin and they would distribute it to those in need.

FYN would like to thank all of the students at Blue Ridge Elementary for their generosity and congratulate Mrs. McBride’s third grade class on their success.
