Blue Ridge Veteran’s Day Parade

Fire trucks, police cars and other vehicles lined up as they traveled from the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge, down Main Street, to East First Street to the Veteran’s Memorial Park to honor those who have served this great nation.At the eleventh hour on Saturday, November 9th, the streets of Blue Ridge were the center of attention as everyone anticipated the arrival of the oncoming Veteran’s Day parade. Blue Ridge City Police Chief, Johnny Scearcy led the line of sports cars, antique cars and trucks, trailers and more filled with businesses that participated to honor the true American heroes…Veterans.

Some of the organizations represented include the North Georgia Honor Guard, the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts and Fannin County Emergency Management. The Fannin County High School Marching Band provided an upbeat tune to keep everyone moving at a nice pace. The parade ended just in time for band members to get a bottle of water then begin playing for the Veteran’s Memorial Ceremony that took place at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

FYN noticed there was a smaller crowd than last year. Despite the decreased number attending, FYN enjoyed the parade just as the kids did, young and old.
