The Rebels traveled to Murphy North Carolina to take on the Bulldogs. It was all “Dogs” all day as Murphy took off after the first quarter, eventually winning 65-25.The Boys in Blue chose to receive the opening kick- ball hoping to draw first blood; however, due to a few dropped passes, Fannin settled for a punt on the first drive. The Bulldogs returned the ball 24 yards giving Murphy mid-field position.

The Bulldogs bit on the first play from scrimmage, scoring on a touchdown run up the middle. After a successful extra point, the Bulldogs led 7-0 a mere 45 seconds into the game.

After a Trewblu Tatum kickoff return and a Peyton Satterfield big first down run, Fannin looked to gain the momentum back. The Rebels would drive the ball all the way to Murpy 15 yard line.

Fannin failed to convert a fourth down leaving the score 7-0 in Murphy’s favor.

The teams traded three outs for the next few possessions; however, the Murphy offense eventually found continuity on offense, walking down the field, and scoring on a 4 yard touchdown run. This would put them on top 14-0.

Noah O’Neal was there to spark the next drive for the Rebels with a huge 43 yard one-handed grab. Jordan Gray made the next big grab to get the Rebels to the 22 yard line.

The drive ended with end with a 34 yard Kevin Chamaty field goal to put the Rebels on the board 14-3.

It took the Bulldogs only three plays to find the end zone, on the ensuing drive, as Murphy scored on a 41 yard run. This made the score 21-3 with 9 minutes left in the first half.

The Rebels came out swinging on Fannin’s next drive. The blue boys quickly got the ball down to the 12. Penalties would plague the offence making it 3rd and 20 on the 23 yard line. Right on cue, Trevor Stone hooked up with Satterfield for a 23 yard touchdown reception.

With 6:53 left in the half the Rebels seemed to be right back in the game with a 21-10 score. Murphy came back with the run game that Fannin seemed to be having trouble with.

I only four plays the Bulldogs reached the red zone; however, Noah O’Neal caught a break for Rebels by recovering a fumble deep in Rebel territory.

The visitors’ momentum was short lived, as Murphy pushed Fannin’s offense back eventually causing a safety.

This put the score at 23-10 with 5:17 left in the first half. The Bulldogs took advantage of the safety kick off, scoring on the extra possession on a seven yard run. After, completing the two point conversion, the Bulldogs increased its lead to 31-10.

After a Fannin three and out on offense, the Bulldogs took advantage, scoring another touchdown before the break to take a 38-10 lead with less than a minute left in the first half.

A long reception by O’Neal got the ball quickly down the field to the nine yard line, which set up Hunter Rice’s nine yard touchdown run with 13 seconds left in the half.

With the score of 38-17, Rebels squib kicked it to the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs recovered on the Fannin 47 yard line.

Instead of downing the ball Murphy threw a screen pass that went 47 yards to the house. Fannin would block the extra point making the half-time score 44-17.

The Bulldogs came out and scored on the first drive of the second half, making the score 51-17. Fannin’s next drive ended in an interception, which gave Murphy excellent field position. The Bulldogs quickly made the score 58-17 in the beginning minutes of the third.

At the end of the third the score was 65-17. Satterfield found the end zone one more time for the Rebels with O’Neal completing a 2 point conversion. This would make the final score 65-25.

The Rebels two week road trip ends this week as West Hall comes into town. An extra incentive driving the Rebels to find the second “W” this week will be Homecoming.
