Irene Davis : Obituary

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mary Irene Seabolt Davis, age 90, who went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Union County Nursing Home, Blairsville, Georgia, after a brief illness.Born January 23, 1923, Irene was a native and lifetime resident of Union County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Clabe King and of the late Addie Kate Dyer King of Blairsville, Georgia. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by husbands, Roy Seabolt and Claude Davis; son, Leon Seabolt; sisters, Lucille Collins and Northa Brown; brothers, Rouse King and Ford King.

A retired employee of Union County Nursing Home, she dedicated her working life to helping people. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. She enjoyed going to gospel singings and listening to Southern gospel music. Irene loved growing flowers as well as quilting and cooking. She was devoted to her family, always showing love and compassion for her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include: daughter, Patsy Holbrook, of Blairsville, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Norman (Poley) and Linda Seabolt, of Blairsville, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Robert Dean of Blairsville, Georgia; grandchildren, Jamie Seabolt, Rodney Holbrook, Bryan Holbrook, Heather Seabolt, Wesley Seabolt, Joe Davenport, Joy Kelley; great grandchildren: Jarrett Holbrook, Jessie Holbrook, and Kalynn Holbrook; sister, Hazel Dyer; brothers, Cecil King and Sam King. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 4 p.m., at the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Ray Potts officiating. Music will be provided by Jarrett Holbrook and Cindy Whitmore. Serving as pallbearers: Joe Davenport, Rodney Holbrook, Bryan Holbrook, Jarrett Holbrook, Robert Dean, and Denver Garrett. Interment will follow in Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
