9-11 Fannin Memorial Service

Awake America and the Copper Basin Ministerial Association held a memorial service in honor of those lives lost on that dreaded day nearly twelve years ago when the Twin Towers and Pentagon were damaged on September 11, 2001. The memorial service was at Veteran’s Memorial Park located in Blue Ridge. The guest speaker, Morganton Mayor Mike England, had a message that he declared was not politically correct but one that he hoped would challenge everyone to remember the reason this day is a day of national tragedy.

England stated that since his birthday is on September 11th that the day hasn’t been the same since and never will be. It is a sad day for American’s and we must never forget the people responsible for what took place on his birthday in 2001.

Blue Ridge Mayor, Donna Whitener stated that she remembered the day of the events. She spent the day consoling her daughter, who shares England’s birthday. She said her daughter wondered how people could be so bad. She challenged those attending to help get our nation back to God so that we, through him, can be a stronger nation.

After the North Georgia Honor Guard retired the colors, the ceremony was closed with the Dorothy Bugg playing Amazing Grace on the Bagpipes as she disappeared over the hill in the cemetery. This brought the beautiful, prayer filled ceremony to an end.

May God Bless America!
