Fire in Mineral Bluff

At approximately 5:00 pm on Monday, September 2, 2013, Fannin County Fire Department received a call from a driver traveling along Highway 60 in Mineral Bluff stating that they suspected a fire in the area.
The house was located on JL Shelby’s Place in Mineral Bluff, off of Mineral Bluff Highway. According to Fannin County Fire Chief, Larry Thomas, approximately 12 firefighters were on the scene, three fire engines and one ambulance were also on hand. The house was suspected to be empty, with the owner out of town but did have significant damage.

FYN spoke with nearby resident, Della Bowers and she stated

“I heard a big boom go off and my neighbors came checking on me to make sure it wasn’t at my house. That’s when we saw where the smoke was coming from just a little ways down the road.”

FYN will keep you up to date on the developments in finding the cause of the fire.
