Oz Invades Blue Ridge Elementary

The students at BRES celebrated their annual accelerated reader program kickoff on Friday, August 23, 2013 by having a dress up day to go along with this year’s AR theme of The Wizard of Oz.Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! The characters of the Wizard of Oz filled the hallways as students were excited to kick off their way down the yellow brick road by earning points by reading and taking exams on the books they’ve read. They will earn rewards throughout the year by collectively earning points as a school.

Participants in the program earn points as an individual as well as a school. Librarian, Robbi Callihan, has set a goal of 25,000 points in order for all of the students to receive a special treat. The hint that students have received is “There’s no place like home”. What will it be? We’ll just have to wait to see!
