Mrs. Mildred Marie Helton Newman, age 87, of Cleveland, TN, formerly of the Copper Basin area, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013.Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Emily Padgett Helton and her husband, Rev. John Newman. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church,
She is survived by daughter, Carol (Doug) Hughes of Ducktown, TN; sister, Betty Denton of Chattanooga, TN; two grandchildren, Darrin ( Donna) Hughes of Ducktown, TN, Dwayne Hughes of Cleveland, TN; two great grandchildren, Koby and Kendall Hughes of Ducktown, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 2nd at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Bill Maughan and Rev. Harold Willis officiating. Music will be by Janice Reid. Pallbearers will include Glen Hughes, Keith Dilbeck, Keith Hayes, James Kelly, Larry Coker and Harold Dale. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill cemetery with a White Dove release ceremony concluding the service. Memorial Contributions in memory of Mildred may be made to the Gideons Polk County Camp 6, P.O.Box 151, Ocoee, TN 37361-0151.
