Rev. William Lloyd Ledford : Obituary

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Rev. William Lloyd Ledford, of Hayesville, North Carolina, who passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 surrounded by the love of his family.

Rev. Ledford was born in Clay County, North Carolina on May 3, 1930 to the late Milton & Lillie Ledford. Lloyd had an incredible work ethic that was instilled into him as a child. He left home for Michigan, at the age of 17, in search of making a living. Shortly afterwards, he proudly served his country with the United States Army in Korea. Later in his military career he endured the harsh climate of Greenland, earning membership into the “knights of the blue nose”. Lloyd was a person who was never short of friends. He was a good steward of money and kept his budget inside the lines to make sure that his family was taken care of because “you never know what tomorrow will bring”! He worked hard, but dedicated time to his family. He enjoyed being “on the go”, traveling to the Outer Banks, Gatlinburg or anywhere he could enjoy nature, accompanied by the love of his life, Pauline. With a strong love for the Lord, He passionately served as pastor of Tusquittee Church of God for 8 years. Lloyd was preceded in death by his son, Dwight Ledford; parents; brothers, Rit and Junior Ledford; and sister, Vita Mae Ledford.

He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: loving wife of over 60 years, Pauline Maney Ledford; daughter & son-in-law, Lynn & Fred Hogsed; son & daughter-in-law, Bruce & Pat Ledford; daughter & son-in-law, Lorene & Randy Barnes; son & daughter-in-law, Joseph & Danna Ledford; daughter & son-in-law, Teresa & Michael Anderson; son, Stephen Ledford; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Hooper; brothers, Kiffer, Raymond and James Ledford and sister Glenda Garrett. His legacy will also be shared by 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Glen Nichols and Rev. Dennis Taylor officiating. Special music will be provided by Billy Garrett. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Jared Ledford, Nick Ledford, Josh Hogsed, Jesse Ledford, Bobby Garrett and Marvin Ledford. Honorary escort includes Rev. Bill Dyer. Interment will follow in Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens with military honors presented by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee.
