Disaster and crime struck Abernathy’s Complete Home Furnishings located on Blue Ridge Drive in Blue Ridge. The tragedy is believed to have taken place late on the night of Monday, April 29, 2013, around 10:00pm when someone set fire to the delivery trucks completely destroying one and doing extensive damage to another. So far, it is unknown if the fire was an attempt to create further damage to the property aside from the vehicles but the state fire marshal and local authorities are currently investigating the motive of the crime. So far, no suspects have been developed but the staff of Abernathy’s would like to offer a reward up to $10,000 for any lead(s) that lead to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for this crime.
