Doris Mae Dean : Obituary

Mrs. Doris Mae Dean, age 79, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at her home.Born in Murphy, NC she was the daughter of the late Emmett T. and Lillie Suit Cook. She was very active in this community and a longtime member of the Damascus Baptist Church. Mrs. Dean was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her husband, Carl “Doc” Dean; and four siblings, Johnny, Robert and Larry Cook, and Linda Phillips precedes her in death.

Survivors include one son, Anthony Dean of Guangzhou, China; two daughters, Patricia Dean Ware of Kennesaw, GA and Sandra Mashburn and husband Bill of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Tracey husband MSgt Eric Fears, Brandon Dean, Jesse Dean, Torianne Dean, Tyler Mashburn, and Samantha Mashburn; great grandchildren, Cole and Marcella Fears; brothers and sister-in-laws, Jimmy Cook, Bill and Nancy Cook all of Jacksonville, FL, Emmett Jr. and Janelle Cook of Green Cove Springs, FL, Dennis and Annette Cook of Blue Ridge, GA and Dempsey Cook of Turtletown, TN; sisters and brother-in-laws, Gail and Kenneth Sitton of Chatsworth, GA and Jewell and Jim Deal of McCaysville, GA.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday March 19, at 2:00 p.m. from the Damascus Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Collis and the Rev. Tony Gilbert officiating. Music will be provided by Pat Mashburn the Damascus Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Denny and Jason Cook, Mark Young, David Grindstaff, Stacy Nicholson and Nathan Chancey.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday evening after 5:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Dean may be made to the United Hospice or the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery Fund: c/o Patricia Grindstaff @ 330 Colton Rd. McCaysville, GA 30555.
