FCHS FFA Horse Evaluation Team Recently Placed at Event

The Fannin High School FFA Horse Evaluation Team recently placed 10 out of 31teams and had the 2nd place high individual out of 98 contestants in the State FFA Horse Evaluation Career Development Event. The event was held at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, GA on February 9, 2013.

The Horse Judging Career Development Event advances the knowledge of agricultural education students about the selection and management of horses. Participants in the event judge classes of horses, give oral reasons for class placings and take a written examination. Team members include Katie Patterson, Taylor VanZandt, and high individual Lakota Towe. Lakota will be recognized on stage at the State FFA Convention which will be held in Macon in April. She will also be recognized at the Area 1 banquet where she will receive first place honors in the area.

FFA is a national organization of over half a million members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education program in public schools. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
