Mrs. Pearl Green Newton, age 88 of McCaysville, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Fannin Regional Hospital where she was being cared for by United Hospice along with the hospital staff.Mrs. Newton was born August 18, 1924 in Epworth, GA to the late Bruce and Margaret Tudor Green. She was a member of the Church of God faith. She was preceded in death by husband, Dennis Newton, son, Bruce Wayne Newton, sister, Jewell Green, brother, Albert Green, sister, Myrtle Queen, brother, Fred Green, brother, Ed Green, brother, Cecil Green, sister, Stella Green, and sister, Ethel Sparks.
Survivors include daughters, Joann (Carman) Akers, Joan (Thomas) Wade, and Frances Covey, son, Danny Newton, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. Also many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Lamb officiating and a eulogy will be given by Chris Wade. Music will be provided by Tom, Chris and Mark Wade. Interment will follow in the Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Kovsky, Dewayne Housley, Max Housley, Johnny Housley, Tom Eads and Mark Wade.
The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home tonight from 6-9 pm and all day Tuesday from 9:00 am -9:00 pm.
