Amber Cather Photography hosted a photo shoot at Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville, GA in order to offer condolences and pay respects to the victims of senseless shootings, in light of the Newtown tragedy.
“We wanted to pay our respects”
Amber Cather said as the group assembled alongside the river.
Men, women and children gathered together to hold a candle light vigil to honor and remember those lost during the recent Sandy Hook Elementary school shootings and similar tragedies. Sandy Hook Elementary was in a small town, similar to Blue Ridge, which brings the reality of what happened even closer to home.
The MacCaysville memorial was similar to that of one recently held in Blue Ridge. The MacCaysville event, though, had no music, signs to honor the victims, speakers, ministers, or public prayer, a simplicity which seemed to add to the solemnity of the event. While each of these events were vastly different, they were a success and our small community honored the victims of Newtown, Aurora and other cities affected by senseless crime sprees, such as shootings. This was the second memorial held in the Fannin County area to honor the victims and their families of Newtown, CT.
