West Fannin Elementary Puts On Christmas Performance

Parents, grandparents, siblings and other family and friends arrived over an hour before the scheduled time for the performance to ensure they had a great seat to see their loved one.Despite all of the fear in parents’ minds after the incident in Newtown, West Fannin Elementary School students loaded up the buses and traveled to the Performing Arts Center to perform their annual Christmas program.

The students performed two grade levels at a time and used props and costumes ranging from a typical Santa hat to a drum set and guitar. The audience was in for a treat! Singing a variety of holiday songs, the most interesting performance came from fourth grade as they sang “Jingle Bell Rock” and two students pretended to play the drums and guitar. Fifth grade followed up with a rap version of “Noel” as they wore metallic colored sunglasses. Students dressed up and recited lines to perform a skit. Ethan Callihan as Elf Number One set the role for the other elves to follow.

“We are so proud of Ethan and honored he was chosen for his role”

Ethan’s mother Amanda said. Callihan and other students did an excellent job with their performance.

This is the drama teacher’s first year working with the students at West Fannin and Rebekah Goss did an excellent job putting the program together. The students sang a combined total of sixteen songs and knew every word. That in itself proves Goss’ hard work and dedication to making the White Christmas of 2012 an event for everyone to cherish and remember.
