County Employees Get Year End Compensations

The Fannin County Board of Commissioners approved year-end compensations for county employees this month. According to the discussion at the December Board of Commissioners’ meeting, the compensation includes both part and full time employees, depending on their employee status. In a recent email to FYN, County Clerk and Financial Officer Rita Kirby said the total end of year compensations was $20,800.

The board also approved its monthly financial report. According to the report, the 2012 Year to Date (YTD) revenue and expenses are $11,910,711.34, where the Budget Balance is $3,325, 284.

“We, as a county are not rolling in the dough,”

Kirby said,

“but we are holding our own when compared to other counties in the state.”

The board approved the report unanimously.

Also during the meeting, James and Lorene Steffke requested permission to build a carport 35 feet from the center of Fox Trot Lane instead of the required 55 feet. The reason for the request was due to the lack of another location to build the 324 square feet structure. The commissioners approved the variance.

Additionally, the board approved a request for an one hour extension of operating hours for the businesses in unincorporated Blue Ridge on December 31st.

The board announced that the regularly scheduled meeting to take place on December 25th was cancelled. The next Board of Commissioners meeting will take place on January 8, 2013.
