William Campbell : Obituary

Dr. William “Bill” O’Neal Campbell, age 84, of Chattanooga, TN, formerly of the Copper Basin area passed away December 10, 2012 at Memorial Health Care Systems of Chattanooga TN. Dr. Campbell was born May 22, 1928 in McCaysville GA the son of the late Martin Hoyt and Pauline Kimsey Campbell. He graduated from Copper Hill High School in 1946 and from the University of Tennessee’s Med School in 1962. He was a family practice doctor in Copper Hill from 1965 to 1976 and served as Chief of Staff for the Copper Basin Hospital in the 1960’s, delivering more than 300 babies from 1961 to 1977. He was a staff physician for TVA in Chattanooga from 1976 to retirement in 1994. He was preceded in death by brothers, Martin Hoyt Campbell Jr, and Robert Lynn Campbell.

Survivors include: wife, Reba Campbell, son, Martin Lee Campbell, brothers; Kimsey “Kim” Campbell, and Don Campbell, sister, Helen Campbell Rippy.

Funeral services: Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Dr. Tom Jordan officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
