James Grady Johnson : Obituary

The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Mr. James Grady Johnson, age 94, of Dalton, GA passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in the Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, GA. Mr. Johnson was born in Springfield, Illinois on January 22, 1918 to the late Frank Swinney Johnson and Frances Allen Johnson. He worked as a tufting machine creeler for E&B Carpets. He was preceded in death by a son, David Johnson and two sisters, Ruth Taylor and Imogene Payne.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Blanche Johnson of Dalton, GA; son, Raymond Johnson of Dalton; three daughters; Vesta Thurman, Gladys Johnson, and Fran Setters, all of Dalton; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 12:00 noon from the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Nathan Vance officiating. Please omit flowers; the family requests that contributions be made to the New Zion Baptist Church Farner, TN.
