The Cougars took on the top seeded Greenback Cherokees Friday night, November 9, 2012. Copper Basin was easily over matched in this one as the Cherokees took this game 62-26.The game was a defensive battle up until halfway through the first quarter. Greenback was on its’ way to a touchdown score when Bryce Nicholson intercepted the ball and returned it 95 yards for a Cougar score.
These seven points would be the only points Copper Basin would score in the first half.
The Greenback offense was able to almost score at will the rest of the half as they led 35-7 going into the locker rooms.
Denzell Brown was able to break off a long run for his Cougar squad to put them on the board in the second half, Greenback led 41-14.
The Cougars were able to put together a drive that ended with a QB keeper from Boggs to cut Greenback’s lead to 41-20.
Copper Basin would only score one more time with another long run from Denzell Brown to cut into Greenback’s lead 55-26. This was only the second time that the Greenback defense allowed 20 points or more scored on them this season.
The Cherokees went on to win the game 62-26 and knock the Cougars out of the playoffs.
