Phyllis Irene Hislop, age 94, of Blairsville, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Heritage Health Care in Blue Ridge.She was born October 10, 1917 in Lathrop, Ohio to Gladys Dunnington Schuler and Ernest Joseph Schuler. Phyllis and her husband John moved to Blairsville in 1982, coming from Ft. Pierce, Florida. She retired after 12 years of service with St. Lucie County (FL) Board of Education. Mrs. Hislop was preceded in death by her husband John, Five sisters and three brothers.
She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: daughter, Sandra Swann of Blairsville and daughter & son-in-law, Mary & Robert Shearer of Alexandria, Kentucky. Grandchildren include: John Colie of Nashville, TN; Renee Colie of West Palm Beach, FL; Randa (David) Evans of Blairsville, GA; Robin (Kris) Gulley and Kendra (Andy) Johnston, both of Alexandria, KY. Great- Grandchildren, David & Raymond Evans, Kinsey and Keegan Gulley, and Kendall and Trevor Johnston. Sister & brother-in-law, Ruth Hannah & Ralph Cade of Ft. Myers, FL; Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
