The Board of Commissioners will hold a meeting at 12:00 P.M. Friday, August 31st to pass the millage rate.Following a boisterous hearing on an unwanted ordinance Tuesday, August 14th the Board of Commissioners voted to pass the 2012 millage rate. However, City Clerk Rita Kirby said the vote was null and void. In an email to FYN following the meeting, Kirby explained the millage rate was advertised incorrectly.
“We had to rerun the five year history so the millage as passed at the last meeting is null and void.”
According to the 2012 Millage Rate Resolution, the County Millage is $5.160; the State of Georgia Millage is $0.200 and The Board of Education rate, $12.900, for a total of $18.260. Kirby said the millage rate will remain the same. She went on to explain that the five year history must be advertised for 14 days prior to the rate’s passage.
The Board of Commissioners will be held at the Fannin County Couthouse.
