Morris William Elrod : Obituary

Mr. Morris William Elrod, age 77, of McCaysville, GA passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at his home.Mr. Elrod was born on January 2, 1935 to the late Luther Lonzo Elrod and Vernie Mae Witherow Elrod. He retired from the City of Smyrna Sanitation Department after 23 years of service. Mr. Elrod was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Faye Bryant Elrod.

He is survived by a special friend Glenda J. Pierce of McCaysville, GA; fishing buddy, Bobby Lowery; brother, Junior Elrod of Dallas, GA; sister, Anna Jane Stanley of Blue Ridge, GA; nieces, nephews, and a large number of other relatives and friends; and fishing buddy, Bobby Lowery.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Don Miller and Rev. Gene Ware officiating. Music will be by Erice Norton and Betty Stanley. Pallbearers will be Coy Norton, James Norton, James Cain, Gary Stanley, Bill Ritchie, and Randy Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Lowery and Steve Self. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill (Airport Road) Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m.
