Zoller Tops Collins in Run-off Poll

Martha Zoller is currently leading Rep. Doug Collins in the ninth district congressional run-off, according to a recent Wenzel Strategies Poll. The poll shows 48 percent of likely voters favor Zoller, while 39 percent favor Collins, identifying 18 percent as undecided.

According to the poll, Zoller is the favorite of Tea Party voters, where she receives 48 percent to Collins’ 31. However, Collins wins the vote of “self-identified moderates,” taking 54 percent, to Zoller’s 34. The poll also reveals the more conservative the voter, the more undecided the voter is about the race.

Additionally, the survey shows that Zoller is better known and seen as more favorable by voters.

“Two-thirds of respondents (66%) said they had a favorable opinion of her, while 20% said their view was unfavorable and 15% said they didn’t know her well enough to have formed an opinion. Fifty-eight percent said they held a favorable opinion of Collins, while 19% held an unfavorable view of him. Nearly one in four voters – 24% – said they didn’t know Collins well enough to have formed an opinion about him,”

the poll states.

Previously, the race had a third candidate, Roger Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick, however, was eliminated in the July 31st election. Following the election, he was asked if he would endorse one of the other candidates. He said he would not endorse a candidate by name. However, he encouraged voters to scrutinize the candidates to see which one best upheld the Constitution. With 18 percent in the Wenzel Poll still undecided, it seems Zoller and Collins will spend from now until the 21st angling for the undecided votes, which more than likely are those left behind by Fitzpatrick.
