The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death of Mr. Richard “Dick” Earle McClain, age 77 of Hiawassee passed away at his home on Friday, August 10, 2012.

Mr. McClain was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on January 19, 1935, a son of the late Curtis Albert McClain and the late Ruth Irene Webster McClain. He had been a businessman prior to retirement, and had been living in the Hiawassee area since 2010, moving there from North Port, Florida. Mr. McClain was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church in Hiawassee.

Mr. McClain will be lovingly remembered by many, but especially his family: his loving wife, Kathryn, of Hiawassee; children: Diane Hollenbaugh, of St. Petersburg, Florida; Scott McClain, of Sarasota, Florida; Dean McClain, of Blairsville; Lori Mummert, of East Berlin, Pennsylvania; Shawn McClain, of Hagerstown, Maryland; and Mark McClain, of Silver Spring, Maryland; seven grandchildren also survive.
