Florence Nichols Quackenbush, age 82 of Murphy, passed away July 25, 2012 at her home.Florence was born July 3, 1930 in Fannin Co, GA to the late Asberry & Aurora Patterson Nichols. A member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by sister, Marie Scruggs, sister, Ilene Ferguson, brother, James Nichols, brother, JW Nichols and sister, Mary Hopkins. Florence proudly served in the air force for seven years, and she loved knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include: sisters; Ruth Hollifield, Carolyn Ware, Willa Dean Ware, daughter; Terri Sue Frankum, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Mt Herman Baptist Church with the Reverends Rex Ware and Robert Flowers officiating. Music provided by Rex Ware and Charlotte Flowers. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church #2 Cemetery. Pallbearers include Rene Hollifield, Doug Hollifield, Shane Bailey, Dusty Farmer, Zachary Flowers, and Kyle Hawkins. Military Honors will be presented by the Murphy VFW Post 10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73 and Clay County VFW Post 6812.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy, Friday, July 27, 2012 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
