Robert and Madeline Williams : Obituary

The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for both Mr. & Mrs. Williams of Young Harris. Mrs. Madeline Whitaker Williams, age 84, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega, Georgia. Mr. Robert Isral Williams, age 88, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at his home.

Robert was born on August 20, 1923 in Dothan, Alabama to the late Earnest Williams & Jimmie Lee (Moseley) Williams. Madeline was born on October 1, 1927 in Palm Beach County, Florida to Frank & Blanche Marie (Marshall) Whitaker.

They were married on May 18,1947. Robert worked as a construction superintendent for over 30 years. He enjoyed to work with his hands. Robert was an avid fisherman in both the Salt waters of Florida to the Fresh waters of the North Georgia Mountains. Madeline was a devoted home maker. She made all of the families clothing and was a very talented seamstress and she also enjoyed crochet. They both shared a love for cooking. They were very family oriented and opened their home and their hearts to the care and ministry to over 70 foster children, one of whom they later adopted. They moved to the Blairsville area in 1988 and were active members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Robert helped with the building of the church. The couple had recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary and as a symbol of their faithful love on the 50th anniversary they renewed their vows to one another. They were preceded in death by both sets of parents and a son, Wayne John Williams.

They will be fondly remembered by all who knew them, but especially missed by their family: sons, Robert Williams of Augusta, Georgia and Ruben Williams of Blairsville; Daughters, Bonnie Watts of West Palm Beach, Florida, Linda Miller of Blairsville, Heidi Heidorn of West Palm Beach, and Amy Hover of Fletcher, North Carolina. 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren also share in their legacy.

Family Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Union Memory Gardens with Rev. Valentine Russo officiating. A heartfelt eulogy will be presented by their adopted son, Rubin. Musical Tribute will be provided by Ron Wesfall and Anita Curtin. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Howie Hover, Dale Harrison, Marvin Lowery, Cody Paul, Steven Allen and Joe Breedlove. Interment will follow in Union Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the 7th Day Adventist Church of Blairsville’s building fund.
