Mrs. Betty Lou Ray, age 83, of McCaysville, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Ray was born May 8, 1929 in Isabella , TN to the late Harley Edgar Payne and the late Jessie Lee German. Betty attended the Williamstown United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett W. Ray, sister, Mary Delores Chastain Jones, sister, Bernice Ray, and brother, Charles Payne. She loved quilting in her spare time, and she was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include: daughter, Sharon (Johnson) Foster, son, Dale (Candy) Ray, daughter, Karen (Johnny) Abernathy, sister, Linda (David) McClure, grandsons, Andrew & Matthew Abernathy, granddaughters, Hannah & Heidi Ray, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services: Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Delmar Davenport and Leslie Daniels officiating. Music provided by Bob Adams and the Hipps Chapel Choir. Interment will follow in the Church of Christ Cemetery in Blue Ridge. Pallbearers include: Lonnie Ray, Sherman Ray, Lloyd Jr. Ray, Scott Ray, Kelly Ray, Kevin McClure, and Nathan Ray. Honorary pallbearers include: Frank (Bud) , Kenny Housley, Andrew & Matt Abernathy.
The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
