Edwin Shelly : Obituary

Edwin Elmer Shelly, age 88 of Murphy passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Murphy Medical Center.Edwin was born April 21, 1924 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Elmer and Helen Warosky Shelly. He attended the St. William Catholic Church in Murphy and was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Gloria Shelly Pitzer and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Lynn Shelly. Edwin served in the Navy during WWII, afterwards he worked in construction in New Jersey, Arizona, Miami and then moved to the Cayman Islands, BWI where he continued to work until 80 years of age. He enjoyed reading, playing golf, and painting in his spare time.

Survivors include his loving wife Gloria Louise Jones Shelly; son, Christopher (Karen) Shelly; daughter, Robin (Don Johnson) Harmon; son, Marc (Carol Anne) Shelly; daughter, Lisa (Frank) Jones; brother, Kenneth Shelly; sister, Lou Kennley; seven grandchildren, Nick and Matt Shelly, Cari Sessums, Chancy Harmon, John Marc and Madeline Shelly, and Nikki Felix-Davies; also four great-grandchildren, Izaac Sessums, Reed and Grace Shelly, and Kinzie Harmon.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home with Father George Kloster officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm before the service on Friday.
