Mr. Edwin J. Hays, age 92 of Murphy, passed away May 29, 2012 at Fannin Regional Hospital. Mr. Hays was born May 28, 1920 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Stanley H. Hays and Dorothy F. Webber Hays. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Herbert Hays.
Survivors include: wife, Betty Radcliffe Hays of Murphy, NC, one son Thomas Edwin Hays, Port St. Lucie, FL, three step-daughters, Rebecca Stubbs of Meridian MS, Janice Walker, of Roswell, GA, Julie Blanchard of West Palm Beach, FL one grandson, Michael Thomas Hays of Wellington, FL, three grandaughters, Michelle Denise Marasco of Murphy, NC,, Jessica Podoski, & Dianna Farrinaci and 7 great grandchildren.
Edwin was a WWII Navy Veteran, an avid horse man and a life long gun collector. He was owner and operator of a Air Conditioning Business in Palm Beach Co. Fl before moving to Murphy, NC.
