Thelma McDonald Nichols, age 93 of Blairsville, passed away May 24, 2012 at her home.Mrs. Nichols was born October 18, 1918 in the Higdon Community of Fannin County, to the late Willie and Estie Pope McDaniel. She was a member of New Union Baptist Church, avid flower and vegetable Gardener, enjoyed sewing and caring for her family. She was preceded in death by husband Glen Nichols in 1981,Brothers, Bud McDaniel, George McDaniel and Johnny McDaniel, sisters Helen Waldon, Hazel Dillard and Ruby, Thomas.
Survivors include: daughter and son in law, Peggy and Winston Chambers, daughter, Diana Nichols all of Blairsville, sisters, Willa Nell Jones and Patsy Hawkins both of Blue Ridge, brother, Howard McDaniel of the Higdon Community.
Funeral services: Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the New Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Underwood officiating. Eulogy by Winston Chambers. Music provided by: the church choir. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Tim Odom, Tim Grizzle, Jacob Grizzle, Marty Payne, Larry Akins and Greg Odom. Honorary pallbearers: J.W. Payne, Bill Abernathy and Bobby Jackson.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy, Friday, May 25, 2012 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
